About

Photo of Cadu Carvalho

I’m (he/him) a Brazilian designer and front-end developer born in Brasília and based in Toronto, with special skills in UX and typeface design. I’ve been working for the past 12 years building prototypes, sites and user-friendly web applications, and since 2018 I design typefaces and write about typography for general people.

I’m driven by the hope that technology can help people to live better and improve society, and (interface) design acts as a tool which shapes devices, applications and other artifacts to humans’ needs and contexts, as long as we’re open to listen users, understand their necessities, learn and empathize with its circumstances.

While not designing or coding, I’m a passionate learner and enthusiast of typography. Whenever I can, I find myself looking for new content for my typography newsletter Tipo Aquilo, digging into the history of design, practicing calligraphy and lettering or crafting new characters and typefaces.
